The future has arrived at one of the nation’s most renowned shopping centers within the heart of Chicago’s North Shore. Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) revealed a new, landmark vision for Westfield Old Orchard that will create a destination unlike anything else in Chicagoland – where life, work, shopping, & play will perfectly intersect.

The redevelopment, which kicked off in 2022, will transform and enhance the experience of the beloved open-air center into a place that combines best-in-class retail, chef-led dining, entertainment, gourmet markets, health, & wellness amenities and luxury residences – all alongside open green space, & outdoor lounges.

Continuing in 2023 and beyond, Westfield Old Orchard is dramatically enhancing its offerings to further curate unique and memorable experiences that will “surprise-and-delight” visitors.  Highlights include:

  • Redevelopment of the former Lord & Taylor space, with construction already underway. New tenants set to open in 2024 within the space include artisan-crafted, sustainably sourced home furnishings brand Arhaus; high-tech mini golf experience Puttshack; and top fashion brand ZARA, relocating from its current space.
  • Development of new residences, eateries, medical space, wellness facilities, and outdoor amenities is slated to break ground in 2024 and will open in phases starting in 2026.
  • By elevating the already exceptional experience at Old Orchard—with its tastefully designed outdoor environment inspired by the nearby Chicago Botanic Garden—the center will be a destination for everything from outdoor concerts to farmers markets to festivals, as well as a community gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
  • A variety of new luxury retail stores that include the recently opened Bloomie’s & Louis Vuitton

Live, Work, Shop, & Play

Westfield Old Orchard’s new conveniences will make it a place to visit any time of day to accomplish daily tasks like shopping

for groceries, working out at the gym, visiting a variety of restaurants or family entertainment options, stopping at the bank

or pharmacy, or even making a trip to the doctor’s office.

Sustainability

Reinforcing Westfield Old Orchard’s commitment to sustainability, the center will continue to incorporate renewable

energy, natural materials, biophilic design, & biodiversity to its building strategies. At the heart of the new development

will be a public park & event space designed as the community’s focal point & social gathering place. Under a canopy of native

trees and plants, paved pathways will wind through lush landscaping and comfortable seating, leading to an open-air plaza where

local events, concerts, farmer’s markets, & festivals can take place.
