Pickleball Instructional Clinics with Gearbox Sports

Been hearing about how much fun people are having playing Pickleball and want to learn? Now's your chance with FREE Instructional Clinics at Westfield UTC's outdoor courts, brought to you by Gearbox Sports! 

Sign up for beginners clinics hosted by Gearbox-sponsored pro coaches Ferdie Bautista and Mike Shinzaki for a fun, informative introduction to this challenging and exciting sport. Learn the fundamentals of Pickleball with an hour-long interactive session covering basic techniques, drills, and play strategy. 

Instructional clinics are open to the community- all fitness levels and ages 13+ welcome. Participants under age 18 must be accompanied by a participating guardian (21+). Participant to coach ratio will be limited to 8:1 max to ensure personal attention and engagement.

What to bring?

• Water- Pickleball is a whole-body workout, and it's important to stay hydrated! 
• SPF- These outdoor, rooftop courts are open with direct sunlight.
• Athletic footwear/apparel- To allow your body to move comfortably.

About the Coaches

• Ferdie Bautista has 15+ years of experience in competitive racquet sports and is passionate about sharing his love for the game of pickleball. He is a physical therapist and emphasizes building strong fundamentals to reduce risk of injury and improve physical potential. His goal is to make the pickleball experience fun by simplifying the game. Besides racquet sports he enjoys occasional weightlifting and the feeling of new socks.
• Mike Shinzaki, is a San Diego native who started playing pickleball eight years ago and has competed at the pro level for over five years. He has helped launch several local pickleball programs from scratch and has taught over one thousand local players as a pro instructor. In recent years, Mike has focused more on the ambassador side, organizing advocacy efforts to foster the pickleball community here in town and pursue greater accessibility. Off the court, Mike enjoys writing, chess, live music, and has visited 55 countries.

• Tuesdays, 2:00 PM-3:00 PM or 3:15 PM-4:15 PM, with Coach Mike
• Wednesdays, 9:00 AM-10:00 AM or 10:15 AM-11:15 AM, with Coach Ferdie
