In a modern-day American dream story, three childhood friends, Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy Rubenyan, scraped together $900 to launch Dave's Hot Chicken in a 2017 parking lot. It quickly took off, expanding to an East Hollywood brick-and-mortar. In 2019, the team partnered with Wetzel's Pretzels co-founder Bill Phelps and movie producer John Davis to franchise the concept nationally and beyond. Today, Dave's has sold rights to 1,216+ locations across the U.S., Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Canada, and will open 135+ this year. Rooted in an Eater LA blog that first sparked buzz, the mission is to "blow their minds." Investors include Drake, Usher, Maria Shriver, Samuel L. Jackson, and Michael Strahan.
