With the overarching goal of halving our carbon footprint by 2030, our Better Places 2030 strategy aims to transform and future-proof Westfield Glòries. We want to ensure that our operations are run ethically and sustainably while continually improving the environmental performance of our centre, giving purpose to our teams, a boost to our retailers, an experience to our visitors and shared value to our communities.

We are committed to our communities and pride ourselves on having a positive influence in our local areas, being a catalyst for inclusive growth and contributing positively to the social, environmental and economic well-being of the communities in which we operate.

We seek to foster local economic development, engage with stakeholders, provide jobs and promote responsible consumption.

We want our sites and our organisation to be a safe and welcoming space for both our customers and our people. We unite our teams, develop and train their talent by inspiring them to act sustainably every day, to participate in volunteering initiatives and to promote diversity and inclusion, making CSR the core of our corporate culture.

Promote the saving and efficiency of energy consumption, as well as the production of renewable energies.

Control and minimise waste generation, prioritising recycling and reuse.

To guarantee the continuous improvement of the system, encouraging the search for and development of new processes that tend to minimise and prevent the environmental impact of our activities.

To educate, train, encourage and raise awareness in all areas of the company's personnel to ensure that the basic objective of preventing pollution and protecting the environment is understood and assumed by the people in our organisation.

To develop projects that can involve the users of our facilities in respect for the environment.

Use of 100% renewable energy - we have managed to reduce our electricity consumption by 30% in recent years.

Reuse of rainwater for irrigation and cleaning systems.

Use of 100% LEDs and maximised use of natural light.

Installation of a selective collection system for paper, plastic and non-recyclable waste.

Collection point for batteries, light bulbs and batteries for subsequent specialised treatment.

A commitment to biodiversity with more than 30 different botanical species adapted to the Mediterranean climate and the different seasons - including ficus, sage and magnolia.

Promotion of sustainable transport - more than 80% of visitors access on foot, by bus, tram, metro, bicycle or scooter. We have 14 charging points for electric vehicles (2 from Tesla), special parking areas for scooters in the car park and free bicycle parking areas both in the car park and outside the centre.

Annual collaboration with WWF in the global Earth Hour initiative to raise awareness of the importance of taking action on climate change.

The Westfield Glòries shopping centre has received BREEAM® certification for the management of its facilities in terms of energy and environmental sustainability.

BREEAM® is the benchmark sustainable construction certificate that assesses the environmental actions carried out by the building in question and its actual performance. Internationally recognised, it has more than 200 experts who assess our impacts in ten areas: management, health and wellbeing, energy, transport, water, materials, waste, ecological land use, pollution and innovation.

Following their assessment, Westfield Glòries has achieved an "exceptional" level (7/7) in building management in terms of energy and environmental sustainability

At Westfield Glòries we continue to look for innovative ways to promote environmental responsibility.
