WESTFIELD APPOINTS CBRE AND DTZ ON STRATFORD CITY
12th September 2008
Westfield announces the appointment of CBRE and DTZ as letting agents for its 1.75m sq ft Westfield Stratford City retail centre adjacent to east London’s Olympic Park.
The appointment follows their success in delivering Westfield London which opens on 30 October. Last month Westfield announced that the scheme was already 96% let two months ahead of opening.
David Slade, Director of Leasing for Westfield, said: “We’re delighted with the unparalleled success that DTZ and CBRE have achieved at Westfield London and we are pleased to keep them on board to work with us in realising our ambitions for Westfield Stratford City.
“Westfield Stratford City will fulfil the needs and aspirations of this growing catchment by providing world class retail and leisure that harnesses the spirit of east London. We will be working with CBRE and DTZ to target UK and international high street brands, but we are also looking to attract new overseas names and create opportunities for local and niche retailers.”
Construction is now well advanced, with the centre scheduled to open in March 2011. The following year Westfield Stratford City will serve as the gateway to the Olympic Park for the 180,000 spectators per day who are expected to attend the Games venues.
Anchored by a 240,000 sq ft John Lewis, a 200,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer and a 32,000 sq ft Waitrose, Westfield Stratford City will feature over 300 local, national and international fashion, food and lifestyle brands. The scheme will be the retail heart of one of the largest urban regeneration projects ever undertaken in this country.
