We are committed to giving back to our communities, which is why every employee has a dedicated volunteering day which they can use to get involved in a range of initiatives that support the local areas around our centres and beyond.

Our staff support a wider number of charities, community groups, support programmes and fundraising initiatives each year, including:

  • Delivering over 1,300 care packages to help support vulnerable families and residents through the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns in partnership with Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
  • Raising more than £21,000 for Spread a Smile on our "Westfield to Westfield" walk between Westfield Stratford City and Westfield London. Spread a Smile is a charity which works to bring joy and laughter to seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families during long hospital stays.
  • Donating their time as NHS Volunteer Responders providing support to the national effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 include acting as a steward at vaccination centres, assisting with collections of shopping and medicines, providing lifts to medical appointments, and providing regular phone calls with people who were shielding to combat loneliness
  • Raising £5,140 for Friends of Jack Tizard, a charity supporting students with special educational needs by participating in the 2021 London Marathon.

"URW for Jobs and URW Community Day are two excellent examples of our commitment to giving back.

"Through these programmes employees volunteer during their working hours each year to support community activities, from helping local job seekers to find employment, to renovating public buildings and supporting food banks. It is great to see everyone coming together to have real positive impact."

- Rhian Ellis, URW
