The backstage scene at New York Fashion Week can be a hectic, anxiety-inducing (albeit inspiring) scene—the complete antithesis of the controlled environment presented to the show’s attendees, soon after. It’s usually a beautiful sort of organized chaos, with several pairs of hands at work on each model, all while giving interviews and doing demos for the reporters and photographers who crowd around them. I’m often sneaking around the edges, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible; I get the face chart, snap a couple of process photos, the final look, and I’m out the door.
But there are some artists I always look forward to seeing, and I seek them out. Two of my top favorites are Kabuki of MAC Cosmetics and Sarah Lucero, Stila’s Global Director of Creative Artistry. Today, I’m focusing on Sarah’s collaboration with Trina Turk—a complete match made in fashion and beauty heaven.
