Islip Arts Council Gallery Grand Opening

from June 27 to July 30

As part of its mission to facilitate culturally responsive, high quality art programs to the community at large, the Islip Arts Council (IAC) is partnering with Westfield South Shore to bring to life a variety of arts-related programming and initiatives. To kick off the partnership, IAC will open a gallery space, located next to Dick’s Sporting Goods. The gallery will host its first IAC Member Showcase beginning Sunday, June 27, with a kickoff reception held from 1-3pm. The gallery space will continue to serve as a satellite location for IAC to host rotating artist exhibitions, merchandise/consignment sales, classes, and workshops.

In addition to the satellite gallery space, the partnership between IAC and Westfield will include a robust calendar of events and arts-related programming at the mall, including:

  • Programs in conjunction with other 501 c3 agencies: Splashes of Hope, Dancing Classrooms LI; Lumiere Ballet; Studio Theater of Long Island; Long Island Authors’ Group; AARP-LI
  • Concerts held in designated areas of the shopping center
  • Creation of a mural project with Splashes of Hope (501c3) in former Lord & Taylor court
  • Mural workshops
  • Creation of an outdoor mural project with START
  • Book Fairs
  • POW WOW and Bomba demonstrations
  • Artisans Fairs
