LEGO was founded in 1932 in the small town of Billund, Denmark. Its founder, carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen, started making wooden toys according to his motto "Only the best is worthy". The name LEGO is a compound of the words LEg GOdt, which means 'have fun' in Danish. LEGO bricks are extremely solid, and the unlimited options of combining the blocks make it possible to create amazing constructions. Thanks to these features, LEGO bricks develop children's creativity, imagination, manual skills, focus, independence, and self-esteem.
LEGO offers over 20 different series including LEGO® Star Wars™, LEGO® Friends, LEGO® City, LEGO® DUPLO®. They are available in more than 130 countries and it is estimated that there are as many as 5 billion LEGO minifigures “walking” the globe. LEGO bricks have long gone beyond children's rooms and they are used by artists, filmmakers, architects or academics. Is this surprising at all if the only limit to the use of LEGO products is human imagination?
