Art Workshops Celebrating Universal Children’s Day

About the event
To celebrate Universal Children’s Day, observed every year on November 20, Wroclavia and the City of Wrocław invite all children to take part in art workshops, which will be held on Saturday, November 15, at Wroclavia. Free admission!
The date November 20 marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the UN General Assembly in 1989 — a convention established 36 years ago on the initiative of Polish physician Ludwik Rajchman.
In 2025, the city of Wrocław honored his memory by opening a square named after him together with his great-granddaughter, Marta Balińska. A dwarf statue named “Konwencja” (Convention) was placed there, becoming the protagonist of the children’s book “Lulu’s Garden.”
“Lulu’s Garden” – A Unique Story for Children
“Lulu’s Garden” is a children’s story written by Marta Balińska. Its heroine, the dwarf Konwencja, tells children about three important figures in the history of children’s rights:
- Eglantyne Jebb
- Janusz Korczak
- Ludwik Rajchman
This beautiful and wise story shows that children’s dreams and sensitivity have the power to change the world. The book features illustrations by Wrocław-based artist Malina Mituniewicz, and its Polish edition will be available during this year’s Children’s Rights Day celebrations.
Workshops: “My Superpowers, My Rights!”
On Saturday, November 15, the City of Wrocław and Wroclavia invite all children to participate in the art workshops “My Superpowers, My Rights!”, held at the Wroclavia shopping center.
Time: 12:00–2:00 PM
Location: Grand Plaza (ground floor)
Workshop description: The “My Superpowers, My Rights” art workshops are designed as an educational and creative activity to introduce children to the topic of their rights in an engaging and accessible way. Through creative expression, participants will learn about the most important rights included in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and reflect on their own “superpowers” — their talents, skills, and character traits — that help them exercise their rights and support others.
Participants will have the chance to receive books signed by the author of “Lulu’s Garden” and other prizes. Artworks created during the workshops will later be displayed in an exhibition.
