LA Urban League x URW

from July 8 to August 31

Last year, Lakeisha Jackson and her daughter, Katelyn, founders of SGH Apparel, were the first mother-daughter duo to open a Black-owned, woman-owned lifestyle athletic leisure apparel store for women at the Westfield Topanga Mall.

With the popularity of the original line of “She’s Got Hustle” t-shirts plus demand for athleisure during Covid, Lakeisha and Katelyn decided to branch out to include men’s and women’s workout wear and rebranded as “Sweat, Grind, Hustle”. The feel-good brand focuses on serving individuals who are movers and shakers, risk-takers, and goal-getters. The founders say their mission, ultimately, is to be a global leader in athleisure wear through innovative designs, function, and affordability.

SGH’s story inspired all of us at Westfield, including our URWomen+ Business Resource Group (BRG) who worked with our community affairs team to connect with one of our longtime partners, Los Angeles Urban League, to see if we could help support the brand’s growth and continued success. Together, through a grant from Westfield and customized resources from Los Angeles Urban League Center for Entrepreneurship, an energetic collaboration was formed that made it possible for SGH to open a second location at Westfield Century City.
