Project Clean Stream
Westfield WestCity is working within the community to restore the area of Oratia Stream, that runs parallel to Westfield WestCity, to its natural state and thus creating a great asset for Westfield and the Waitakere Community.
We will achieve this through the removal of all noxious plants & weeds, native tree and flora re-planting programme, ongoing litter removal programme, water quality monitoring and reporting, pest control, and creating viewing areas and scenic pathways.
We are achieving this with support from “Project Twin Streams” and “Keep Waitakere Beautiful".
Our partner, Project Twin Streams is in the process of restoring 56kms of Waitakere stream banks. The banks are weeded, replanted with natives and maintained. The project is about many things: community engagement, stream health, natural environment and the health and recreation of people and their community.
The project also fits in with other storm water initiatives in Waitakere. It is designed to work with nature rather than against it.
