Metreon is being reinvented.
During the next year, Metreon will be transformed into the retail, dining and entertainment destination in the heart of downtown San Francisco's cultural and convention area. The new Metreon will embrace Yerba Buena Gardens, elevate the visitor experience, and complement cultural and entertainment activities.
Improvements will reflect its dynamic location. Metreon is at Fourth and Mission streets overlooking beautiful Yerba Buena Gardens. It's steps from Moscone Convention Center, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Westfield San Francisco Centre and world-class museums, shops, hotels and restaurants.
Look ahead. Imagine a sunny day with views of Yerba Buena Gardens while eating at Metreon's new "Dining Terrace." Stroll along an inviting new promenade of restaurants and retailers on Mission and Fourth streets. Shop at Target's first San Francisco store.
See a movie at the upgraded AMC Theatres Metreon 16 and or if you really want to see a block buster see it on AMC's IMAX. Celebrate at the renovated CITY VIEW event space on the fourth level with one of a kind views of the Yerba Buena Gardens and the city.
Construction on these exciting improvements began in May 2011, but they are already opening doors of opportunity. The new Metreon, owned and operated by Westfield, will create 600 construction and 700 permanent jobs many filled by local residents.
It's expected to generate $15 million annually to the City for public services. City View will be available for events in September 2011. The Dining Terrace and street level offerings will open in early 2012. Target will open in mid-2012.
All of this and more - at the New Metreon.
