Police Station Naming Contest.

March 27, 2008

At the beginning of 2008, Westfield sponsored and helped organize Councilman Dennis Zine and Councilman Greig Smith’s Police Station naming contest. The councilmen proposed a contest to help name the new 54,000 square foot, $37 million police station in Canoga Park, expected to be operating by the end of 2008. To support their efforts, Westfield installed voting stations throughout Westfield Topanga for the community to help name the station.

Hundreds of community members participated in the contest, and the winner of the naming contest, Lake Balboa resident, Rebecca Westberg, received a $1000 gift card from Westfield. Ms Westberg, who named the new station “Topanga Police Station”,donated the proceeds to the police department. Westfield, in turn, gave the winner $500 for her generosity.
