Transport Improvements.
A number of key transport projects will benefit local people, improving the high quality transport options that Stratford residents already enjoy. Additionally, Westfield will be constructing a number of new roads and bridges, improving local road junctions and providing new bus stops.
Stratford Regional Station
Westfield is contributing to the improvements to Stratford Station being undertaken by the Olympic Delivery Authority to improve the capacity of Stratford Station for the increase in the number of travellers for both Stratford City and the London 2012 Games.
Stratford International Station
The new Stratford International Station will promote Stratford as Britain's front door to Europe, serving Paris and Brussels in approximately 2 hours. Additionally, a new high-speed domestic service, expected to commence in December 2009, will enable access to St Pancras International in 7 minutes, Ebbsfleet in 10 minutes and Ashford in 20 minutes.
The Northern Ticket Hall
A ticket hall for Stratford Station will be built in Stratford City itself and will connect the Central and Jubilee Lines, Docklands Light Railway and Overground services via a new subway system.
Town Centre Link Bridge
The pedestrian and cycle-only Town Centre Link Bridge will stretch above the rail track, providing a safe and secure connection between Stratford’s existing Town Centre and Stratford City. Sure to become a focal architectural feature of East London, the bridge will be well lit and fully accessible at both ends via lifts, escalators and steps.
