The White City area is one of the most exciting regeneration opportunities in London, with the potential to deliver huge benefits for the W12 area and beyond. Westfield London will act both as a catalyst for the redevelopment and regeneration of the region, and as the cornerstone for future investment, which is anticipated at £1 billion over the next 10 years, primarily to the north of the site.
Key Highlights Include:
- The local economy will be boosted by the creation of a significant number of employment opportunities including 1,000 during the construction phase and 4,000 when the centre opens.
- Westfield is working with the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, Regenasis, JobCentre Plus, LSC and local colleges to develop long-term employment and training initiatives, focusing on the training and recruitment of local people and the provision of starter business units.
- Vast improvements to the transport system will make the area one of the best served in London and will provide step-free access facilities at both Shepherd’s Bush (Central Line) and the new Hammersmith & City Line station.
- 3 affordable housing schemes will deliver over 200 new homes to modern and disability standards including 50 Octavia Housing Units located on Pennard Road, 90 Key worker Housing Units located on the North West corner of the development at Wood Lane and 70 Affordable Housing Units located on the south east corner of the development.
- Several million pounds are being invested in streetscape and landscape design for Shepherd’s Bush Green to re-establish this multi-use space for amenity, play and leisure.
- A medical centre and Citizens Advice Bureau will be available on-site for use by local residents.
- Westfield London will be supported by a 24-hour security service, including security guards and CCTV centre facilities will offer a clean, safe and secure lifestyle destination.
