Westfield London’s Innovative New Food Gallery Begins Leasing

Westfield London, which is shaping up to become the capital’s most exciting fashion, lifestyle and leisure destination, has begun leasing its new food quarter, Eat Gallery.

Westfield’s food opportunity is attracting enormous interest from a diverse cross section of restaurateurs and food retail outlets, many of them new to this type of environment. Located at White City, Westfield London, which is owned by Westfield and CGI of Germany, will open for Christmas 2008.

Michael Gutman, Managing Director UK/Europe, Westfield said: “I am delighted by the response we’ve had from a range of high calibre operators who want to come to Westfield London. The centre has really caught the upswing in interest in dining out in London and it will present an exciting selection of home grown and European cuisines.”

Today people in Britain are spending more on eating out than they are on buying food to eat at home, and the food offer at Westfield London seeks to serve this change in the nation’s dining habits.

Eat Gallery is just one of a number of distinct eating and drinking areas located within Westfield London, each reflecting a very particular environment. Other areas include a south facing outdoor streetscape of restaurants and bars that run the length of the development, and a family oriented mezzanine area.

Westfield is known worldwide for revolutionizing the shopping centre dining experience through the creation of innovative lifestyle, shopping and dining destinations such as Bondi Junction in Sydney, Topanga and Century City in Los Angeles.

Westfield London will be no exception and will offer an unrivalled food experience, a 14-screen Cinema de Lux complex, a spa, not to mention 265 specialty shops and anchor stores Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, Next, House of Fraser and Waitrose.

Westfield London is distinguished by the quality of its architecture. Eat Gallery is designed by the multi award winning Softroom whose work for clients as diverse as the Victoria & Albert Museum and Virgin Atlantic has earned them a reputation as one of Britain’s most innovative designers.
