£170 million is to be invested to ensure multi-modal transport access to Westfield London:
- £100 million will provide extensive improvements to the public transport system including a redevelopment of the existing underground station at Shepherd’s Bush, a new overland railway on the West London Line which will serve Chelsea and Clapham to the South and Harrow to the North, a new tube station on the Hammersmith & City Line and two new bus terminals.
- £70 million will be invested in the new London Underground Ltd siding box.
- It is estimated that 60% of visitors will use public transport to visit Westfield London who will benefit from real time information.
- The Southern Interchange will provide the main entrance to Westfield London and customers will be able to choose from 5 modes of transport: Shepherd’s Bush (Central Line) station, buses, taxis, the West London line station and a cycle route which will run down the eastern access route by the West London Line, through the Southern Interchange and down to Uxbridge Road across Shepherd’s Bush Green.
- Accommodation is being made in the design for the proposed West London tram line running between Shepherd’s Bush and Uxbridge town centre.
- Vehicular access to the 4,500 space car-park is available from the new junction off the A3220.
