San Diego REPertory Theatre

San Diego Repertory Theatre is the city's most prominent downtown theatre and serves as the “Cultural Town Hall” for San Diego. The Lyceum at Westfield Horton Plaza has been the home of the San Diego REP since 1986.

Programming at The REP encompasses five major components:

  1.  A six-play subscription season
World premieres, re-imagined classics of the world stage, and innovative work by contemporary playwrights that are culturally and stylistically diverse and speak to the multicultural audiences of San Diego.
  2. The Calafia Initiative
An initiative to create new work that speaks to and about the people of the Californias, US and Mexico, past and present.
  3. Annual cultural festivals
Kuumba Fest, a Black History Month celebration of African American arts and creativity, and the Lipinsky Family San Diego Jewish Arts Festival.
  4. Community partnerships
The REP operates the Lyceum theatre and gallery complex as a “Cultural Town Hall”, managing the facilities on behalf of the City of San Diego, and through this role, assures culturally balanced programming and access to the arts for local residents.
  5. Education programs
There are several on-going programs that provide education, enlightenment and experience for underserved youth, students, professionals and people interested in a more enhanced theatre-going experience.

The San Diego REPertory Theatre is located at The Lyceum in Westfield Horton Plaza on the north end of the center at Broadway Circle.
