Learning and Development

Training Programs

Westfield encourages its employees to develop their careers and provides opportunities for them to progress through the company. To aid this process, Westfield provides extensive training and development opportunities, including:

  • leadership and management programs such as the Westfield Foundational Leadership and Westfield Foundational Management programs;
  • business skills programs such as negotiation skills, time management skills and presentation skills; and
  • information technology end-user courses which provide practical tips and ideas for using computers more efficiently.

Online Learning

Westfield has an online learning facility, which contains more than 600 courses and 3,000 books. This tool is available to all employees and provides a huge potential learning reward. The content of the books and courses focuses on business and IT.

Employees can also obtain access to the Leadership and Management Development Resources Centre eRoom. This is an online collection of the latest information on business leadership and management. It contains articles, tools, surveys and links to recommended websites. It also has a discussion board for difficult leadership and management questions.

Inductions

New Starters Program - Head Office and Shopping Centres

This induction program is specifically designed for head office and centre employees to give them essential first-day information. New starters also receive a detailed folder that can greatly reduce new-job nerves and help people get through their first few days with comfort and ease.

Head Office Induction Morning

The head office induction morning is held every two months and is designed for new employees working at head office and centres or sites in New South Wales . This is a great way to meet some of Westfield’s key people and gain insight into what other company business units do. The morning comprises presentations from the Managing Director, Divisional Directors and Department Heads who describe each division's operations and how they fit within the Group as a whole.
